The recent demonstrations over gay marriage has caused me to look up Sowell's articles where he explains that marriage really limits the rights of individuals', it does not expand them.
"Marriage is not a right extended to individuals by the government. It is a restriction on the rights they already have." 2005
"In other words, marriage imposes legal restrictions, taking away rights that individuals might otherwise have." 2006

What's your point? Do you agree? Disagree? Are Sowell's points valid? Invalid?
I find it hypocritical for gays to be going around saying the government should issue licenses to marry. But a license implies a privilege to do something that otherwise without such a license would be a crime. Why should marriage be a crime? It shows that the gay rights activists really haven't thought this through and are just acting out of emotion.
I think this gay marriage stuff is just ridiculous to even being argued. It is not normal or natural to have same sec marriages. You can't procreate that way. I think of what John Adams said,“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
