Unfortunately, the reform introduced by Mr. Obama does not seem to be the right choice. The main problem is that the insurance companies care more about their profits rather than the service they should provide.
Take care,
LorneGreat West Life insurancehttp://lsminsurance.ca/life/great-west-life-insurancenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26975600.post-73300524662866787902009-12-02T06:30:20.560-08:002009-12-02T06:30:20.560-08:00The Federal governement telling us to save more is...The Federal governement telling us to save more is about like Jeremiah Wright telling us to stop hating America. It's a little hypocritical.Johnny Blackhttp://thesecondchancesheepdog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26975600.post-86294393472242171602009-12-01T08:37:03.846-08:002009-12-01T08:37:03.846-08:00The essence of politics can be summed up with the ...The essence of politics can be summed up with the answer to a single question..."When is the coercive threat of deadly force against my neighbor justified?"

How is this relevant to the discussion at hand? Because the the power of the government IS the power of the gun.

Those on the far left usually answer the question above with 'taking care of the less fortunate, providing health care for all, or the ever popular "it's for the children."' While those on the right offer up 'strong national defense, tough-on-crime, etc.'

But regardless of which side of the aisle your nameplate is attached...both the left and the right today embrace statism. A belief in a strong central government with the power to cure what ails our society.

It is the spending of money on projects left and right which has brought us to the brink of insolvency. The federal government has no business robbing the taxpayers for money to pay for education, health care, retirement, child care, welfare, housing, ad nauseum.

Geithner is right about one thing: we need to save money. But the only way we will be able to accomplish this worthy goal is to SLASH federal (and state) spending.

Production is the true measure of an economy (not spending); and government produces nothing. Every dime spent by government has to be taken by force from the productive members of society (yet another indicator that GDP is a bogus metric).

So yes, by all means, save every dime you can. But without drastic reductions in spending, all the savings in the world will not help us. Just ask Japan.Ron Joneshttp://www.jonesfamily.us/conservativenoreply@blogger.com
